Pakistan Government Revises Telecom Approval Rates (ASRs)
On July 1st the rate for Pakistan has increased. The Pakistan government has imposed a 32% tax on telecommunication services as they have decided to revise the Approved Settlement Rates (ASR) for sharing of premiums which is earned on incoming international telephone traffic. This decision came after the cellular companies registered protest over the current method and recent decisions of the PTA (Pakistan Telecommunications Authority).
Market predictions estimate the new rates for a white route will range from $0.0800 to $0.1200 and Grey route anywhere between $0.0500 to $0.0700.
With this increase, we should expect an influx of activity in the wholesale area thus creating more competition in buying and selling for international carriers.
