Telecom Forecasts for Hong Kong
“Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, takes pride in the way it has built one of the most sophisticated telecommunications markets in the world” according to a recent report posted on Marketresearch.com, titled: Hong Kong – Telecoms, Mobile, Broadband and Forecasts, by Paul Budde.
This report reveals that Hong Kong has been making great strides in adapting mobile, Internet and broadband services. Hong Kong’s regulator has played a major role in developing the telecom sector, applying a substantial infrastructure to support the growing need for mobile phones and telephone services. The government’s withdrawals, allowing open competition, residential households are now able to take advantage of lower costs of fixed networks.
Moving away from dial up, Hong Kong has also worked hard to provide over 85% of households with broadband service. As for mobile users, going into 2010 there were over 12 million subscribers, representing close to 170%.
