Market, market, market
Don’t forget to do your market research and define your target market, don’t get lost in markets that won’t bring you any revenue. You stay on top of your competitors and in the thoughts of your clients by seeing what they need and what has been working for them. Or maybe it’s what the clients/customers really want and demand. Take an internet browser journey over to your main competitions website; what are they offering, what products/ services are they pushing?
For example: If you were to open a bakery on a street where another successful bakery is and their hot product is chocolate cupcakes. Wouldn’t you offer the same thing but more? But how would you capture their customers? Their customers have been going into their bakery for years, what makes your bakery and chocolate cupcakes more special? Maybe it’s better pricing, more of the product (bigger cupcake), extra add on’s, (sprinkles) a free product (vanilla cupcake) or maybe it’s just simply a better invented and original product and it that case you can compare your product to theirs. In marketing the ideas are endless. Little ideas like this matter.
Just take this example and apply to your VoIP services.
Don’t forget about the four marketing P’s as well! Whenever you are in doubt about marketing just look back to this formula:

• Price
• Place (Distribution)
• Promotion
Advertise but Be memorable
One of my advertising professors gave me some great advice, if you think of a clever advertising idea; the chances are someone has already thought of it. In order to skip this terrible truth you have to jump your competitors and think at least five times past that idea.
Look at all advertising outlets such as: print, publications, misc online advertisements, blogging, social media, cross promotion with other companies or events, community, etc.
Word of website advice, your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and website design can make your break your business. You have style, so show it through your website.
Don’t be afraid
Business is business, go out and get your customers with advertising. Just because you are offering Residential VoIP doesn’t mean your clients will stumble upon you. Everyone leads busy lives and not everyone has the time to organic search all their options on Google. Go to where your clients are and if your marketing is right then you won’t need to beg for them to switch service providers.
